Intentional Leadership
Have you ever had a day so full that you reached the end of it wondering what you even accomplished?
If you're honest, maybe that day turned into weeks… then months… then an entire season of your life.
As a coach and leader, I've seen it in countless clients—and I’ve lived it myself. The world celebrates busy. We glorify packed calendars, late-night emails, and multitasking as badges of honor. But the truth is:
Busy is not brave.
Busy is survival.
Bravery is something different. Bravery is intentional.
What does it mean to shift from busy to brave?
- Bravery is knowing what you’re building. Survival mode keeps you reactive—putting out fires, answering demands, fulfilling others’ expectations. Brave leadership asks, “What am I building today that will matter tomorrow?”
- Bravery is choosing your ‘no’ as powerfully as your ‘yes.’ Intentional leaders understand that every yes is a no to something else. They bravely disappoint others’ demands to remain aligned with their mission.
- Bravery is slowing down to hear. In busy, we hear noise. In bravery, we create space to hear direction, truth, wisdom, and the still, small voice that guides us to lead with clarity.
How to Start Shifting Today
If you feel stuck in survival mode, take five minutes today to reflect:
- What am I busy with right now that isn’t building the future I want?
- What would brave look like in this moment?
- Where do I need to choose intentional action over frantic reaction?
Write down one decision you can make today to lead bravely—whether it’s pausing before replying to an email, saying no to a non-essential meeting, or investing five quiet minutes to reconnect with your vision.
Final Thoughts
Busy leaders survive the day. Brave leaders build the future.
Which one do you want to be?
